Our fourth hottie cover challenge is approaching…
Opendrawer is proud to host our fourth Hottie (Hot water bottle) Cover challenge throughout June and July of 2018. The challenge will raise funds and awareness for SisterWorks, a non-profit social enterprise supporting women who are migrants, asylum seekers or refugees to become financially independent and happily settled in Australia.
Create a Hottie cover using any art material or style, or (for the less artistically-minded) visit the store and vote on your favourite Hottie by donation. The Hottie Covers will be exhibited and for sale at Opendrawer between 15 June and 7 July 2018, and at the end of the exhibition we will award the crowd-favourite with a hottie-inspired trophy. All funds raised will go to SisterWorks.
Visit Opendrawer for the exhibition Gala Opening night, 15 June 6-8pm, or at any time during the Hottie Exhibition.
How to get involved
Working on your Hottie submission is the perfect activity to keep you busy over the summer months. But, if you’re not the creative type, you can still participate in the Challenge by voting for a Hottie (by way of gold coin donation), or by purchasing a hottie with all funds going to SisterWorks. All Hotties purchased will be distributed at the end of the exhibition.
What are the rules for making a Hottie? There are almost none! We only ask that each submission is able to hang by the template we will provide you. Otherwise, your submission may be as functional or non-functional as you like. In previous competitions we have had everything from knitted Hotties to 3D paper sculptures. Every Hottie entry will be available for sale in the shop, with all profits going to SisterWorks. You are more than welcome to purchase your own Hottie cover.
The entrance fee for submitting a Hottie is $10. This helps us cover the cost of your kit, holding the Gala night, and running the challenge. All other funds that we raise from the challenge will go to SisterWorks to support refugee women in Australia.
You can download the entry form below and mail it to Opendrawer at 1158 Toorak Road, Camberwell, 3124 (we will then mail you back your entry kit). You may also visit us in-store to sign up and receive your kit in person. All entries must arrive at Opendrawer no later than the 31 May, 2018. We look forward to seeing your creations!

In just the last few years, SisterWorks has worked with 171 Sisters from 55 countries: 88 Entrepreneurs, 68 volunteers, 10 board members and 5 part-time staff.
