 EXHIBITION DURATION

  • Exhibitions run from Friday to Sunday
  • The minimum duration of an exhibition is 2 weeks (this gives you 3 days no charge)

GALLERY HOURS

  • Mon – Fri 10am-5.00pm Sat & Sun 10am-4pm

SET UP

  • Thursday –to be arranged at a mutually agreeable time

OPENINGS

  • Preferably on Fridays between 6pm to 8pm – this is negotiable
  • We have allowed for a 2 hour opening in our hire cost – any variation to time and length must be negotiated

GALLERY COSTS

  • Gallery 1…………….…………………           $120.00 per week
  • Gallery 2………………………………            $110.00 per week
  • Gallery 1 & 2………………………….           $220.00 per week

OPENDRAWER OFFERS

  • Assistance in hanging your exhibition if required
  • Advice and assistance in promoting the event
  • Emailing of your invitation to our extensive mailing list
  • Lighting and hanging system
  • Access to and use of kitchen
  • All power and outgoings
    • Public liability insurance
    • Gallery plinths available
    • Table and seating will be supplied if you choose to man your exhibition
    • Design and printing service

OPENING NIGHT

  • All aspects of the catering for opening night are the responsibility of the artist (this includes preparation, serving and cleaning up).
  • We have our preferred caterers and are happy to provide you with menus
    • It is the Artists’ responsibility to make sure all guests leave the Gallery by the arranged finish time

ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES

  • It will not be necessary for an artist to man the gallery during their shows
  • We welcome you if you would like to do so for all or part of your exhibition
  • We suggest that an artist talk is arranged at least once during your exhibition – this needs to be discussed at invitation time, as it needs to be included on both your invitation and in the Art Almanac advertisement.
  • If you would like to give demonstrations around your work practice then we are ready to accommodate you
  • There is the opportunity for you teach a class based around your work practice – please indicate when booking if you would like to do so – there are several costing options for you to choose from.

INVITATIONS

  • It is the responsibility of the Artist to arrange their own invitations (these must be approved by Opendrawer before they go to print)
  • Our logo must appear on all types of invitations –a jpeg will be emailed to your designer
  • They must use high quality images to a high finished standard
  • We offer a design and print service for your invitations at reasonable market rates
  • Please let us know when booking what your arrangements for invitations will be

ADVERTISING

  • ¼ page ad in Art Almanac (Ad produced by Opendrawer)
  • Extensive media canvassing
  • Press releases to all major media organizations
  • Email invite to our extensive mailing list

SALES

  • Opendrawer will take the payment for all sales during the exhibition.
  • Opendrawer will take a 40% commission of the sale price.
  • Opendrawer will pay the artist less commission + GST once all art pieces have been paid for in full
  • Banking details are to be provided to Opendrawer for direct payment of sales.

 

HIRER’S OBLIGATIONS

  • The hirer must supply when booking an artist statement, CV, a photo of at least one piece that will be appearing in the exhibition and a statement about the exhibition.
  • The hirer is responsible for the installation and dismantling of the exhibition.
  • The hirer is responsible for leaving the Gallery in the same condition as found before hanging the exhibition. If restoration work is needed then it must be carried out on dismantling day.
  • The hirer is responsible for all costs associated with the exhibition i.e. invitations, opening night catering and advertising not covered under this agreement.
  • The hirer is responsible for insurance of artwork to, during and from Opendrawer. While we take every care we do not take responsibility for damage of work while at the gallery.
  • The hirer is responsible for organizing catering and opening night drinks.
  • The hirer is responsible for ½ cost of ¼ page ad in Art Almanac (approx $150.00)
  • The hirer is responsible for advertising to promote the exhibition including media releases and emailing invite to your mailing list.
  • The hirer is to supply a list of all works being exhibited with the artist’s price marked beside each piece. We request that you include materials used in each piece and if you are so inclined the inspiration for each piece.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Opendrawer reserves the right of final approval of all works to be exhibited, advertising of any kind (including invitation) and to alter rental, terms and conditions without notice.
  • If the Exhibition includes wearable art – it is a condition of Opendrawer that the wearable art be displayed as art pieces – there can be no trying on of garments during the exhibition – it is therefore a condition that the garments are attached to their displays so they cannot be removed by the public. Opendrawer take no responsibility if garments are damaged because they were not attached securely. If the artist wants to man the gallery during all opening hours then it becomes the responsibility of the artist to decide if garments can be tried on.
  • Opendrawer reserves the right of final approval when the Artist hangs the exhibition. If adjustments need to be made then they are to be done together with Opendrawers’ representative and the Artist

  

PAYMENTS:

A deposit of 33% is to be paid upon booking.

The balance of monies owed must be be paid two weeks before Exhibition opening date.
